Tax Conformity Update: Where Things Stand—and What Comes Next

On Feb. 11 and Feb. 12, two conformity bills were introduced and referred to the House Ways and Means Committee: H. 5167 and H. 5178. While these bills have been introduced, they are not yet law. This update is intended to keep you informed of their status. They are not intended to serve as guidance for filings.

Movement on either bill is not expected until after the tax reform legislation is resolved. The timeline remains fluid and is dependent on several factors. The Association is closely monitoring developments and will share updates as they become available.

For filing purposes, the best course is to follow the South Carolina Department of Revenue’s guidance as issued on January 30.

At this time, there is no action required from you or the membership. The Association is actively monitoring legislative activity and will alert you as circumstances change.
