SUMMARY:(LIMG10/26) Budgeting From the Bottom Up
DESCRIPTION:Event Description\nMost budgeting processes look at revenue as the starting point. This session examines the budgeting process from the bottom of the profit and loss statement rather than the top. The process begins with the profit desired for the company or a revenue producing department.  Then the overhead the company or department needs to cover for those earnings. Then from the gross profit you can determine the needed revenue.   \nDuring the process net profit per unit of revenue\, overhead cost per unit of revenue\, and other metrics are determined to create a living budget which is reviewed monthly. \nDesigned For\nMost budgeting processes begin at the top of the profit-and-loss statement by forecasting revenue. This session flips the script by starting at the bottom: the profit your organization wants to achieve. From there\, participants learn how to build a “living budget” that incorporates required overhead\, calculates the needed gross profit\, and determines the revenue necessary to reach financial goals. You’ll also walk through metrics such as net profit per revenue unit and overhead per revenue unit\, and see how monthly review transforms this approach into a dynamic tracking tool.\n\nObjectives\nLearning objectives: \n\nUnderstand the budgeting process starting with profit rather than revenue. \nUnderstand net profit per unit of revenue and overhead cost per unit of revenue. \nUnderstand how to make this budget a living document that can easily track progress towards achieving the desired budget.

SUMMARY:(LITE11/26) Cybersecurity Essentials
DESCRIPTION:Event Description\n \nIn today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape\, the strength of an organization’s cybersecurity measures is not just in its technology\, but in the awareness and vigilance of its workforce. Cybersecurity threats are becoming more sophisticated\, making it crucial for every employee to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to protect sensitive information and assets.\nIn this session\, we’ll walk through the essential building blocks of a strong cybersecurity foundation — from the types of safeguards organizations rely on\, to the role of continuous oversight and human monitoring\, to the everyday actions that either reduce or increase risk. The focus is not on technical jargon or specific products\, but on understanding how these layers work together to provide meaningful protection.\nBy the end of this discussion\, you should have a clearer picture of what effective cybersecurity looks like in today’s market\, why people and process matter just as much as tools\, and how each individual contributes to keeping the organization secure.\n \nObjectives\nTo equip CPAs with a practical\, non-technical understanding of cybersecurity risks\, including how incidents occur\, their impact on financial and operational integrity\, and the role leadership plays in risk awareness\, preparedness\, and response.
