About WellPartners

WellPartners is a nonprofit healthcare organization providing accessible dental and vision care to uninsured and underserved individuals across the Midlands of South Carolina. Through its Dental and Eye Health clinics and community partnerships, WellPartners removes barriers to care and helps patients achieve better health outcomes and quality of life.

Board of Directors

WellPartners is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that provides fiduciary oversight, strategic guidance, and community leadership to ensure the organization fulfills its mission and remains financially sustainable, compliant, and impactful. The Board plays a critical role in supporting WellPartners’ growth, strengthening governance, and advancing access to high-quality dental and vision care for underserved communities.

Board Member Role & Expectations

Core Responsibilities

Board members are expected to:

  • Uphold fiduciary duties of care, loyalty, and obedience
  • Provide strategic guidance aligned with WellPartners’ mission and priorities
  • Support organizational sustainability and growth
  • Serve as ambassadors within professional and community networks
  • Participate actively in board and committee meetings

Fundraising & Philanthropy

Board members are expected to:

  • Make a personally meaningful annual financial contribution
  • Support fundraising through advocacy and relationship-building
  • Participate in donor cultivation as appropriate

Time Commitment

  • Board term: 3 years (renewable)
  • Board meetings: Quarterly
  • Committee meetings: Monthly or bi-monthly

Board Committee Structure

The WellPartners Board is supported by the following standing committees:

  1. Executive Committee (Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer) – Provides leadership between full board meetings and supports strategic decision-making and executive oversight.
  2. Finance & Audit Committee – Oversees financial management, budgeting, audits, internal controls, and long-term financial sustainability.
  3. Governance & Nominating Committee – Leads board recruitment, onboarding, governance policies, board performance, and succession planning.
  4. Development & Partnerships Committee – Supports fundraising strategy, donor engagement, corporate and foundation partnerships, and revenue growth.
  5. Programs & Clinical Quality Committee (Dental & Vision) – Provides oversight of clinical programs, quality standards, patient experience, and service delivery models.
  6. Community Awareness & Advocacy Committee – Strengthens community relationships, public awareness, and advocacy efforts aligned with WellPartners’ mission.
