Farmers can benefit from a variety of Sales Tax exemptions if they understand how to properly claim them. The South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR) has new resources to help you navigate them:

Start by reading RR #25-6: Tax Exemptions for Farmers.
This revenue ruling answers frequently asked questions about:

  • which items are considered tax-exempt
  • when a SCATE card is necessary to claim an exemption
  • how retailers should handle sales of exempt items

Still have questions? Attend SCDOR’s free seminar. They’ll share guidance and answer questions about state and local Sales Tax requirements for farmers.
