Schmoyer and Company, LLC is seeking a Staff or Senior level Associate. We are a fast-paced, growing public accounting firm located in Columbia, SC, serving clients throughout the state.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations
- Perform financial statement compilations/reviews/audits, including HUD and ERISA audits
- Compile Medicare and Medicaid cost reports and provide related healthcare consulting services for nursing homes and hospices
- Perform monthly/quarterly/annual accounting closeouts
- Assist with tax planning
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
- Licensed CPA or CPA candidate with 150 credit hours preferred
- Up to 4 years of progressively responsible accounting roles
- Strong working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, generally accepted auditing standards, and federal and state income tax laws and regulations
- Ability to effectively prioritize work volume, multi-task, & meet deadlines in a professional manner
- Effective analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Effective listening skills
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Seasonal overtime required
- Some instate, overnight travel may be required
- This is an in-office position; no remote option
