Love Our Legislators Day: Sweet Success at the State House

|

On Wednesday, February 12, SCACPA members gathered in Columbia for the second annual Love Our Legislators Day. This impactful event strengthened connections between CPAs and their elected officials. This high-energy day was a fantastic opportunity to share the CPA story and advocate for the profession.

The day began with a welcome breakfast, setting the stage for meaningful discussions and networking. Following breakfast, SCACPA members attended the Labor, Commerce, and Industry (LCI) subcommittee meeting, where Senate Bill 176 was discussed and advanced to the full LCI committee. We are excited to share that S. 176 was found favorable by the committee and is on the Senate floor!

Following the committee meeting, SCACPA members were officially recognized in both chambers of the General Assembly. Senator Wes Climer (R-York) recognized our delegation on the Senate floor, while Representative Shannon Erickson (R-Beaufort) welcomed SCACPA in the House. Their continued support of the CPA profession is invaluable, and we deeply appreciate their leadership.

SCACPA remains committed to advocating for key legislative initiatives, including S. 176 and H. 3489 (Federal Tax Conformity). You can track the progress of these bills in SCACPA’s Advocacy Center.

Get Involved! Learn more about SCACPA’s Legislator Connections Community, where members can actively engage in advocacy efforts and build relationships with policymakers.

Thank you to everyone who participated and made Love Our Legislators Day a resounding success. Your voices matter, and together, we are shaping the future of the CPA profession in South Carolina!
